In 1979 Moltech Norge was established in Bergen, Norway by current owner and director John Molnes. A couple of years earlier he had returned to Norway after studying engineering in England, where he also received some practice as a service technician with Kelvin Hughes. Since the early start in 1979 we have been fortunate enough to see a steady increase in demand for your range of marine electronics. By focusing on what we know best, fish finding equipment has been at the core of our business since the start, and will continue to hold that position. However, we have recently seen that shipping and offshore have become important areas for growth.
In 1984 Moltech became distributor for the Kaijo product range in Scandinavia. Since our cooperation with Kaijo went well, the distribution rights soon expanded to include the rest of Europe. These products have since been our core business. Today the two brands "Kaijo" and "Moltech" are closely associated in the consciousness of professional fishermen throughout Europe. Other important brands which need mentioning are SODENA and FTI Flow Technology. SODENA are well known for their high quality navigational systems, while FTI Flow Technology produce the Fusion flow meter. We have the distribution for SODENA in Norway, and for FTI we also cover Iceland.
One of our key staff members are Trond Hveding. Trond has an engineering background, and joined our company back in 1982. He has also been valuable for Kaijo with regards to product development and innovation. Other key employees are Jarle Hatlen and Frank Heggelund. Both are experienced engineers within service and installation of a broad range of marine electronics. Rune Molnes joined us in 2007. He has a masters in business and economics, and has previous experience from DnB and the Teige Group. Rune now works as our sales manager.
